On July 3, 1979 IBC made its first experimental transmission on 6240 Khz. After a series of tests, the regular programmes started at 07.58 UTC on September 16, 1979, on 6251,5 kHz with 2 W. On December 30, 1979, also the frequency of 6275 kHz was tested for the first time, with only 1 W. In April 1980 the frequency of 7365 kHz on 41 meter band was added with 150 W to improve the reception throughout Europe. During 1981 various frequencies on 25, 16, 13 and 11 metres were tested with an unexpected success. On November 1981 IBC started its "24h World Service" on 11590 kHz with 200 W.
